Your copy of the leaked AWA profiles kit

July 31, 2008

You may have read this Herald Sun story on Monday July 21.

It deals with a leaked kit from Telstra’s HR department. It was used to train managers to move as many people onto AWAs as possible. You can download a copy of the leaked kit here.

Psychological profiles

The kit psychologically profiles workers so that managers could more easily move them onto AWAs. Check out the profiles on pp 15 -16.

On ABC radio Telstra’s director of workplace relations Darren Fewster refused to answer questions about whether it was unethical to profile employees.

He also tried to get out of answering whether Telstra Managers received bonuses for moving people on to AWAs - the leaked document showed they did in fact receive bonuses. You can read the transcript or listen to the audio file here.

Thank you for keeping the General Public,Telstra shareholders and interested YR@W activists informed about this sort of scary, predatory stuff.

What rubbish. I was re-offered an AWA. All AWA staff in my region attended the same single briefing, so it is incorrect to claim that we were targeted based on our personaility traits since a large group of people at a single briefing could not posses the same personality trait. I then took the revised document, studied it, compared it to my current agreement and the made an adult decision and signed.

I don’t really care that there is a view that the electorate rejected AWA’s at the last election. I rejected workchoices and as a result voted Labor but I support AWA’s and signed my agreement.

I don’t need the Union or electorate deciding my employment arrangements. I can do that all by myself.

Got something to say?
